A release-readiness plan should connect verified release information to the way your organization uses Workday. This is an evergreen planning checklist, not a statement of features delivered in a particular Workday release.

Confirm the applicable changes

Use the official release information available to your organization and check applicability in your tenant. Record which changes are required, optional, or irrelevant to your current scope. Assign an owner to evaluate uncertain items instead of treating every announcement as a committed feature.

Map the business processes at risk

Start with critical outcomes: accounting and close, customer billing and revenue, procurement and supplier invoicing, banking and settlement, expenses, assets, projects, and financial reporting. Include exception paths and the controls your team relies on.

Review configuration and security

Identify the configuration and access rules that those processes depend on. Test with representative authorized roles. A process that works for an administrator may still fail for the person responsible for daily operations.

Check integrations and data loads

List inbound and outbound interfaces, schedules, dependencies, and reconciliation checks. Define the expected records and outcomes before execution. Include failure handling and operational ownership in your test cases.

Validate reports against expected results

Prioritize reports used for financial decisions, reconciliation, operations, and controls. Record prompts, filters, roles, and expected results. Explain differences instead of accepting a report merely because it opens.

Keep evidence and decisions together

For each test, record the scenario, owner, expected result, actual result, evidence, and disposition. Keep unresolved issues visible. A test marked complete without an accepted outcome should not disappear from the readiness review.

Plan the operational handoff

Confirm communications, support ownership, and any required user guidance. Decide who can accept remaining risks and what must be resolved before your organization proceeds. Recheck the plan against current official release materials rather than relying on a generic checklist alone.

A practical test record

Scenario → Business owner → Role → Preconditions → Expected result → Observed result → Evidence → Issue owner → Acceptance decision.
